Two hundred pounds may not seem like a lot, but it’s a pretty interesting number. Most adults don’t want to weigh over 200 pounds.
But, still, there are a lot of things that do reach that benchmark. In our list of things that weigh 200 pounds (lbs), we’ll identify items that when multiplied, make the grade.
1. 2 Adult North Pacific Giant Octopuses
The adult North Pacific Giant Octopus is the largest of the octopus species.
Its level of intelligence compares to none. It has the ability to open jars, solve mazes, and mimic other octopuses.
And it usually weighs a little over 100 pounds(110 lbs). Put a couple of these together, and you’ve reached your 200-pound benchmark.
2. 2 Round Front Sitting Flush Toilets
Ever wondered what the weight of a round front sitting flush toilet is?
Now, this is something we all can relate to. The next time you’re sitting there, with a little thinking time on your hands, you can reflect on the fact that the weight of a typical round front sitting flush toilet is nearly 100 pounds (96 lbs).
Most of us have at least two of them in our homes. Put them together, and you have your 200 pounds.
3. 10 Dachshunds
The dachshund breed is a short-legged, long-bodied, hound dog. It’s a popular breed in the U.S. Due to their long, narrow build, they’ve been nicknamed the Weiner or sausage dog.
The average weight of one of these popular breed is 20 pounds. Put ten of these together, and you have your 200 pounds.
4. 13 Bowling Balls
While a bowling ball can weigh anywhere between 6 and 16 pounds, did you know the preferred weight of a bowling ball by male bowlers is the 15-pound ball?
This is an interesting fact we thought we’d bring to light, and since we’re talking about the most preferred weight for male bowlers, 13 of those 15-pound balls will give us about 200 pounds.
5. 20 Gallons of Paints
A gallon of paint weighs about 10 pounds. Every day, 3 million gallons of paint are applied to building structures across the U.S. Considering it takes 20 gallons to weigh 200 pounds, that’s a lot of 200-pound paint opened daily.
6. 20 Average Cats
The average domestic cat weighs about 10 pounds. Cats are popular household pets. Many people have multiple cats in their homes at any given time.
Cats are reflexive creatures known for their righting reflex, which allows them to land on their feet and survive falls from nearly 70 feet high. Imagine owning twenty cats, and you have 200 pounds.
7. 4 Dog Food Bags
If you own a dog, it’s important to know they’re getting fed enough food. The hard and fast rule is dogs should be fed at least twice a day.
But how much should the portion size be? Well, that depends on the dog. Portion size varies depending on the breed, age, and health of your dog.
Luckily, you can purchase 50-pound bags of dog food, and most dog owners do just that. Four bags of these 50-pound bags is 200 pounds.
8. 2 Hundred-Pound Punching Bags
Punching bags come in a variety of weights. The pound bag you choose depends on your weight class.
The general rule is heavy bags should be about half your body weight. This means 200-pound boxing bags are designed for people who are heavier in weight than most.
The average person would most likely use a 100-pound boxing bag. Two of these would be 200 pounds.
9. 6 Cinderblocks
The standard cinderblock (8x8x16) weighs about 35 pounds. It’s interesting to know that a concrete cinderblock can withstand about 1,700 pounds of weight per square inch.
That’s because due to their composition of cement, sand, and gravel, concrete blocks weigh more than cinder blocks. It will take about 5 3/4 cinderblocks to accumulate 200 pounds.
10. 25 Gallons of Water
We all need water; we can’t live without it. Did you know that gravity affects the weight of water? A gallon of water on Jupiter would weigh more than a gallon of water on Earth, while a gallon of water on the Moon would weigh less than on Earth.
One gallon of water on Earth is approximately 8 pounds. We would need 25 gallons to reach 200 pounds. That’s a lot of water on Earth.
11. A Refrigerator
Refrigerators are heavy. If you’ve moved lately and had to move a refrigerator, you already know this. Hopefully, it was on the lighter side. Although the average weight of a refrigerator is under 300 pounds, refrigerators can weigh from 200 to 450 pounds. A small, compact refrigerator can weigh 75 to 200 pounds.
Many things can affect the weight of a refrigerator, like the internal engine, age, and features. That is why many newer models weigh on the higher end, because of all the new features. For our purpose, we’ll focus on the smaller refrigerator with mediocre features and put it all by itself at 200 pounds.
