It’s probably hard to grasp what 1,000 pounds looks like without a visual perspective.

There are so many things within our view every day that either weigh 1,000 pounds by themselves or as multiples of themselves.

So, let’s say we went with a coastal douglas fir, which is found through most of the northwest section of the U.S. and one of the most well-known trees in existence.  A 40-ft coastal douglas fir is estimated to weigh just over 1,000 pounds (1,100 lbs.)

A concert grand piano weighs approximately 1,000 pounds. Did you know that even though grand pianos of the same brand are made the same, they are each different?

This is not so much appearance, but in other ways like colorations of sound and nuances of strength or delicacy. Each piano seems to take on its own personality, making it even that much more unique of an instrument.
